Description

Kahana is a Connemara X TB mare, but more of the Connemara type. Kahana currently lives out all year round on a track system, with some daily grass grazing, with my other 3 horses, and has lived in a bigger herd set up also in the past. She is/has always been barefoot and has very good strong feet. She is easy to catch and lead, easy for trimmer, vets and dentist (no sedation needed) She is an easy keeper and a good doer and currently over weight.

She has been started and ridden lightly over the years (mainly by a loaner) but only really done light hacking and some schooling. She has hacked out alone and in company, been used to lead and has been lead out also with no problems, but I would say she is still fairly green, and hasn’t done anything for the last 2 years.

Unfortunately due to my schedule and struggling financially I have had to make the difficult decision to rehome her and another one of my horses.

Problems

Kahana has been ridden lightly over the years, but would rather not work and can be a bit lazy. She can be pushed through that and then will put effort in, but does really need to be worked by an understanding patient handler/rider and someone who has good horsemanship skills. I personally think she would do better at driving once trained for it (that was my original plan for her) but with the right person could be used for hacking, but would need to be with an experienced rider who has experience with starting/re-starting horses.

Health Issues

Yearly vaccinations are due June 2026

Ideal Home

With company and preferably living out all year. Although she has been ridden and could be brought back into work with the right person I think Kahana might be more suited and prefer being a companion and to just have someone love on her.
