Horses4Homes finds a super home for Donny who failed the vet on a flexion
“I found Horses4Homes after making the difficult decision to rehome my lovely boy Donny. I had a new baby and less money coming in so planned to sell him on but he failed a flexion test so I had to reassess his future. Heavy riding was off the cards but I wanted to find a laid-back ridden home for him and an owner I could trust – I was very wary of adverts looking for companion horses in case he ended up sold on or worse ended up being exported for meat now his value had reduced. The team at Horses4Homes were amazingly supportive and offered me great advice throughout the rehoming – reassuring me that we would find a good outcome for Donny and helping me sift through the applicants to find the right solution for everyone. Donny is now settling into his new home, only half an hour from his old stables and I’m in regular contact with his new owner. He has a low-key ridden life and lots of field rest to avoid stressing his legs. I can’t believe at one point I was considering having him put to sleep rather than risk giving him to a home I wasn’t 100% sure about. The Horses4Homes process helped me ensure all applicants were genuine, committed and capable of looking after Donny in the long run. Thanks for all your help”
