Description

Jack is a 13.1hh, 16-year-old Welsh Section C gelding. We absolutely adore him, but he’s a complex little character, and we’re in no rush to try and find him the right home.

Before we had him, Jack hadn’t done much, but my daughter brought him on and competed in local showjumping competitions. He even qualified for the Hickstead NSEA Championships in 2023. However, my daughter has now outgrown him, and he’s currently enjoying life out in the field with a shelter.

Jack does have a few quirks, so we’re looking for a very specific type of home for him. He wouldn’t suit a competition home, as he can become quite stressed. After a failed loan last year, he has also developed a significant nervousness around loading. In the stable, he can be a bit bargy, which is why we feel he’s best suited to a home where he can live out with access to shelter. He must also have a companion, as he suffers from separation anxiety.

That said, Jack is a lovely pony who enjoys hacking (in company) and schooling. He currently doesn’t have a saddle, so any prospective loaner would need to factor that in. As he hasn’t been in consistent work, he has lost a bit of muscle, but with time and patience, he could get back into shape. He is not for a novice rider or child. Equally, he’d be happy be a companion.

He is trimmed and has previously worn front shoes, although he can be a little nervous around men. He is fully vaccinated and fine to have his teeth done.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and patient home that understands his needs and will give him the care and consistency he thrives on. If you think you could offer Jack the right home, please get in touch.

Problems

Jack can buck occasionally, be quite spooky and bargy. However, he can also work very nicely and has nice paces. An experienced rider needed if ridden home, someone happier to school at home and hack in company as he does not like to be alone. No more than 10.5 stone in my opinion. He will come with a bridle and some rugs.

Health Issues

Vaccinations all up to date, no health issues.

Ideal Home

Someone who has no competitive desires due to his high stress levels, potentially a light hacking/ schooling home or companion. A person who is experienced - not suitable for a child.
