Description
For full long term loan, 15.1hh, 15yo cob gelding. Fred is your typical good-doer cob, able to live out 24/7 unrugged if not clipped, is unshod, can be stabled if necessary, good with farrier, does need to be sedated to be clipped and for dentals.
Can be ridden lightly but would need to have steroid injections maintained if doing this and as such the weight limit is 70kg. Needs to be maintained on one tablet of firocoxib a day. Is good to ride alone or in company, loads and travels well. Would prefer him to go as a companion to a non-ridden home but would consider ridden home if only going to be lightly hacked.
Loves being in a routine and is easy to catch when in this routine, otherwise may need a little food bribery to get his headcollar on, (he is a piglet so food will always work!).
Only looking for a new home as my daughter and I are giving up horses. Will come with saddle, bridle and a few rugs. He does need his hay soaking/hosing as will cough the further through season you get.
Problems
Weight limit 70kg, can be ridden alone or in company, is good in traffic, can get strong in canter but not to the point of needing more than a snaffle. Parked lorries can be a bit spooky! He isn't a beginners horse for riding, just needs someone with a bit of experience under their belt.
Health Issues
Has stifle, SI and coffin joints issues which can be maintained with one tablet firocoxib a day if unridden. If being hacked lightly he would need regularly checking by a vet and steroid injections.
Ideal Home
I would prefer Fred to go as a companion home. He is suitable for light hacking but would need to have his joints medicated to do this. He is best living out and and makes a good companion to another gelding.
