Despite the Crisis – Horses4Homes Punches Above its Weight Rehoming A Record Number of Horses in January

The numbers of horses being listed with the charity has doubled since September but despite the weather the charity received more applications for horses and rehomed more horses in January this year than ever before.  The charity rehomed 3x as many horses compared to last January and has seen its traffic to the charity’s site double in 12 months to almost 40,000 visitors a month. A remarkable achievement for a charity that in June will only be 1 year old!
Rebecca Evans, Rehoming Manager for the Charity and NEWC Vice Chair, said “Horses4Homes is punching above its weight and making a real impact on helping private owners who are struggling this winter.  Those looking for horses appear to be much more informed about the extent of the problem and rather than buy a horse that could be described dishonestly prefer to give a horse a home who needs one where the priority of the owner is to find the very best home possible and not the best price.”
Pamir, a 24 year old Arab went off to his new home in January. His owner CarolePamir was very close to having him put to sleep, “I could no longer afford to keep him and did not think that anyone would consider rehoming a 24 year old horse.”  Click here to read his uplifting story.
